Frequently Asked Questions

You may find below answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.  If you are unable to find an answer to your questions, contact us at info@cpahull.ca

Uplifter Account

How to create an Uplifter account?

In the top right corner of our site, you should see "Login".  If you click on there, a dialog box will open where you can enter your username and password if you already have an account, or create a new account.  The account should be created under the parent's name if you are registering your child.  Once your account is created, you will be able to add a participant for each of the children you are registering.

How can I stay up to date on Uplifter information?

Ensure your communication preferences are all set to "Yes" to receive all club updates. (ie special cancellation messages, registration announcements, special events announcements, etc.)

Registration

How can I register for a program?

Go to our registration page to find all of our available programs.  From there, click Register and then select which participant you want to register for that session.  You can then View Cart to review all policies applying to that session and to finalize the transaction.

CanSkate

Do you need prior skating experience to register for CanSkate?

No, the CanSkate session is open to skaters with no prior experience.  The groups on ice are divided by skating experience/level.  The program is meant to teach a strong foundation of basic skating skills for all ice sports.

What equipment do I need for CanSkate?

A CSA-approved helmet is mandatory for the CanSkate session up to completing the level 5.  You will also need gloves, sharpened skates that are properly tied and adjusted to your ankle, as well as clothes that allow you to move freely.

How long is a CanSkate session?

The full session lasts 50 minutes.  It is broken down in 4 sections: Active warm-up, lessons, activities and cool-down.

How often are skaters evaluated?

The evaluation is continuous.  As skaters learn new elements and successfully perform them, the coaches mark them as completed.  Once all elements for one discipline in one level are achieved, the skater receives a ribbon for that discipline and level.  Once he gets all 3 ribbons for the level, he also receives a badge.

StarSkate

When is my child ready for Star Skate?

We recommend skaters complete their level 4 badge prior to considering Star Skate.  Once they have completed level 4, skaters can register for the semi-private group.  The session is led by coaches teaching smaller groups of skaters.  Once your skater is capable of managing their own skating time without the supervision of a coach for the full session, they can register for private groups.  You must contact a coach to confirm their availability prior to registration.

Year End Show

What is the Year End show?

Our year end show is a celebration where skaters get to invite all their family and friends to come see their great progress during the season.  The show takes place at the end of the season, around the end of March or beginning of April.  There are 2 to 3 weeks of special practices that are mandatory for all participants prior to the show.

When is the registration for the year end show?

Registration will take place before the Christmas break.  Keep an eye out for an Uplifter announcement!

Volunteering

Who manages the CPA Hull club operations?

The club is administered by a board of members elected annually at the General Assembly of the club.  All elected board members are volunteers.  They operate and put in place all the activities of the club with the help of the PNCE Skate Canada coaches they employ.

I would like to offer my volunteer services, how do I go about doing this?

If you would like to help the club in any way, you may speak to any board members present during your sessions or send an email to info@cpahull.ca.  Any kind of volunteer help is appreciated and helps the betterment of the club!
